Customer API access

We send your API key and delivery instructions by email when your subscription is set up. The free evaluation does not require a key.

Use your key

Add the key to the Authorization header. The endpoints and response fields are the same as the evaluation API.

Store the key on your server. Do not include it in website JavaScript, URLs or public repositories.

The runnable store example reads SPECJOIN_API_KEY from your environment when you use --live. It uses the same category endpoints for free evaluation and paid access.

Check your allowance

Responses include X-RateLimit-Limit, X-RateLimit-Remaining and X-RateLimit-Reset. Reset is the end of your paid billing period, in Unix seconds. All keys on your subscription share the same allowance.

Successful data requests count once each. Errors, documentation and downloads do not count. You can cache results without further charges.

Access errors

401: the key is invalid or revoked. Check it or contact us for a replacement.
403: the subscription has no current paid period. Check billing.
429: the request allowance is used up. Retry-After gives the seconds until renewal. Contact us if you need more; no automatic fees apply.
503: access is temporarily unavailable. Retry later or contact us.

A supplied key is always checked. An invalid key will not silently use anonymous access.

Downloads and billing

We arrange the download format and delivery schedule with you by email. Downloads do not use your API allowance.

Manage billing or cancel. For a lost or exposed key, contact us for a replacement. We cannot recover an existing key.
